CULVER CITY – West Los Angeles College got the 2025 season started right with an impressive 27-10 victory over visiting Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday.
After allowing a LA Valley field goal on its opening drive of the contest, West LA went on to score 27 unanswered points to cruise to the win.
Sophomore Bryant Collins led the offense, rushing 21 times for a game-high 136 yards. His one-yard TD run capped a nine-play, 61-yard drive to give West LA a lead it wouldn't give up.
West LA added to the lead when Francois Jones snatched up a 16-yard interception and ran it back for a pick-6 and Jackson Dadich tossed an eight-yard touchdown reception to Zion Bennett to give the Wildcats a 20-3 halftime lead.
Dadich tossed his second TD of the contest, this time for 39 yards to Andrew Washington, to close out West LA's scoring midway through the third.
LA Valley broke through for a touchdown in the fourth but the West LA defense held on for the win.
The West LA offense outgained LA Valley 325 yards to 248. Dadich was solid in his season debut, completing 9 of 20 passes for 145 yards with 2 TDs.
On defense, Marquise Stewart totaled 7 tackles to lead West LA while Rashaan Jones and Nicolaus Wiggins each recorded sacks.
West LA, now 1-0, is back in action next Saturday (Sep. 6) when the Wildcats head to Antelope Valley College for a 6 p.m. non-league game.
